The Fay hotel became a landmark in Virginia. Earning a fine reputation for its dining room service, the hotel was home for service clubs such as the Virginia Rotary and the Kiwanis. It was here until 1943 when it was destroyed by fire. The Fay hotel only lasted for two years. From 1941-1943.

One of the leading and most centrally located hotels in Virginia, which was one block from the main street and only two blocks from the Mesabi Depot. It was the hotel, Virginia. The building is two stories, 50x75 feet, it has 40 rooms, besides the parlor and dining rooms.

A house which has reached popularity far beyond the borders of its own town, was established in 1920, by Andrew Dahl, and from his kind behavior, the hotel has won a very excellent reputation and is regarded as on the most helpful stopping places on Northern Minnesota.
