The Queen City is the nickname of Virginia, which is located in Minnesota. The Queen City is located 80 miles north of Duluth. Virginia has two lakes, one is called Baileys Lake and the other is called Silver Lake.
There were two fires in Virginia. One was in 1893 and the other was in 1900. The fires left many people homeless and penniless.
February 2, 1895, at 5:00 p.m., Virginia was incorporated as a city. It was the first city on the Mesaba Range. In 1895, Virginias population was 5,000.
When the first settlers heard of the iron deposits, they traveled sixty miles over mud and swamps to reach them. The settlers had to take the train from Duluth to Mountain Iron and then eastward over the Mesaba Trail to Virginia.
